We are sold out for 2024.
We will begin taking NUC reservations for the Spring of 2025 in November 2024.
A Nucleus (NUC) is essentially a starter colony of honey bees. They are comprised of five frames which include pollen, nectar, brood in all stages, a laying queen along with a sufficient workforce of bees to support the growing colony.
We produce NUCs and queens in the Spring from our own local stock of bees. Once taken home, the NUCs need to be transferred into a standard 8 or 10 frame hive body. Our bees are inspected as part of state apiary inspection program by the NCDA&CS.
Our NUCs are usually ready for pick-up towards the last week of April and we continue to produce them until the end of May. We usually sell out of NUCs every year, so pre-ordering is essential.
We can produce NUCs using deep or medium frame sizes. Frame size must be determined at the time of ordering. Frames will be wooden and the foundation will be either crimped wire wax, wax coated plastic or a combination of the two. All NUCs come in a plastic Pro-NUC box.
To order NUCs, please fill out the NUC order form below and someone will get in touch with you to finalize your order. After I receive the order form, I will send you an email confirming your order. NUC prices for 2025 are listed on the order form. We have a limited number of NUCs, therefore it is best to order early. All queens are mated and can be marked for no extra charge.
